The features and capabilities to be supported by Release 3
This page is a preliminary draft. A working table of features and capabilities is under development, and will be reflected in these pages when complete.


Release 3 is the On-Demand Measurement Processing release. It emphasizes the end-to-end control of processing, with on-demand and event-driven measurements — including defining observation plans, marine resource coordination, and autonomous marine asset control — and advanced workflows of instrument providers, data product producers, and data product consumers.

In addition to completing support for observatory and marine operators, and all OOI data consumers and providers, the release focuses on instrument providers and operators, data analysts, and providers of external resources like storage and computation resources.

With Release 3, the OOI user community will be extended to include the entire community interested in OOI services and products, making it the first release targeted for use by the public.

This release will see the full deployment of high-availability, multi-site, and federated systems enabling multiple authority domains.
