Designating a resource as primary is a means of flagging the device as the principal resource in a portal or site, in the event there a more than one at a given time, and denotes it's output as the source for an associated data product.
Steps below begin from an asset portal or station, see [terminology defined in the introduction] or a graphic representation of terms in on the Associations and Deployments page. Click here for details on navigating in OOIN.

In order to flag as primary, the proper role and permissions are required, see Establish User Role & Access Permissions.


Activate as Primary

Step 1: Initiation of Activate as Primary

On the Facepage for the portal or station, scroll down to the Deployments tab, enable the block's stack menu, and select Activate as Primary Deployment.


Step 2: Select Appropriate Deployment

Select the appropriate deployment to activate as primary and set the principal resource at the portal or station.

Step 3: Confirm Activation

Select either Activate to proceed. Or Cancel to close dialog without activating.


Deactivate as Primary

Step 1: Initiation of Deactivate as Primary

From the Facepage for the portal or station, scroll down to the Deployments tab, enable the block's stack menu, and select Dectivate as Primary Deployment.

Step 2: Confirm Deactivation

Select either Dectivate to proceed. Or Cancel to close dialog without activating.
