Working with a marine device such as platforms and instruments from initial intake to deployment and beyond.
At any time if an issue with the OOIN system arises, the Get Help or Report & Track an Issue page outlines the who/when/where of contact information.

For an existing resource in the OOIN system, click on either navigating or searching for how to find the resource of interest.

Details for creating a new device are the same as for creating any new resource within OOIN.

NOTE: To command and manage a device a user with the Facility Operator role for the facility that contains the device must first request and be granted access to the device.

Perform Initial Checks of a Device
  1. Receive physical device
  2. Ensure device (manufacturer, model, & serial #) is accurately in the OOIN system by either
    1. Creating a new resource, not required for preloaded resources
    2. Editing an existing resource
  3. Download any attachments associated with the device, such as checklists or test instructions
  4. Perform initial checks as prescribed
    1. Review and edit parameter settings as necessary
  5. Perform testing and characterization of instrument's connection and interface using the command option:
    1. Command a Device
    2. See the full descriptions of common commands that includes an overview diagram
  6. View data produced by navigating to the appropriate data product page
    1. Interact with Data View or Download Data if necessary
  7. Create Event(s) in the Event Log where necessary for logging initial checks and testing
  8. Upload as attachments any associated documents, images, results and/or logs, i.e. images, QCT, configuration, and calibrations

Configure Device Settings and Lifecycle State and Review Associations
  1. Editing a device allows the user to
    1. Enter and/or verify required device information and parameters
  2. Set lifecycle state
  3. Review associations and deployments
  4. Designate device(s) as primary where necessary, i.e. primary instrument, primary on site

Verify Behavior and Performance

The steps for commanding a device and reviewing the data may be required multiple times before and after physical installation in conjunction with associated resources during and after deployment.

  1. By commanding the device
  2. View data produced by navigating to the appropriate data product page, comparison with existing or other resources may be required
