The user can quickly check the status of any resource by checking the right-hand side of its title bar.
The aggregated status of an instrument can be displayed upward to the platform, station, and facility pages, as well as to the dashboard map view; but to function properly, the *associated platform agent must be running also to allow the status links to be populated.

Status Summary

The current status of any resource that can report status is summarized on the right side of its title bar. Depending on the type of resource, different types of status information may be displayed.

For an instrument the UPTIME is calculated from the time the instrument was put into auto-sample mode, and is reset to zero when it is taken out of auto_sample.

The overall status of taskable resources or devices such as platforms, instruments, etc. can be broken down into four distinct types:

Power
Communications
Data Flow
Location

Indicators of status are:

OK Functioning as Intended
Warning Threshold level dependent on specific device and to be configured by marine operators, but flag indicates levels approaching alert status.
Critical Threshold level dependent on specific device and to be configured by marine operators. Flag indicates levels reached or exceeded alert threshold.
Unknown Status of device cannot be assessed. This does not mean the agent is stopped.
It means the ION system has not been able to determine the status yet.  Once the system has determined the status it will not go back to unknown.

NOTE: The status displayed is always the last known status, and therefore does not change to unknown (gray) because an agent is stopped or reset.  The indicator will continue to display whatever the last status was (which might be unknown) until new information indicates it should change.

Aggregated Status of Resource

Within an instrument block for a platform, station, or site, the aggregated status of the associated instruments is visible.

See note above* - the associated platform agent for the resource must be running for the aggregate status to be displayed on higher level resource pages such as platform, station, or facility.

Map Pins

Map pins show aggregate status of resource.

See note above* - the associated platform agent for the resource must be running for the aggregate status to be displayed on the map.

The plus pin does not show a status as it represents an area of numerous resources. The user must click on the plus pin or zoom in to see individual pins that show an aggregate status.
