Logistics:

The OOI DOORS Training will take place on Wednesday and Thursday March 26 and 27, 2008 at the University of California San Diego.  The class will run from 8:00 am through 5:00 pm each day and will be held in Room 161 of the Powell-Focht Bioengineering Hall (PFBH-161) - which is building 601 (F7) on the campus map.  For those of you familiar with the area around Atkinson Hall - the GIANT STONE TEDDY BEAR located in the courtyard is facing the entry to PFBH.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided for both days.  We'll also provide a list of nearby restaurants to make your dinner plans a bit easier.

I believe all of the out of towners will be stayng at the Sheraton on Holiday Court in LaJolla.  They provide plenty of information (including directions) on their web site.

They are across the street from the UCSD Campus - so Driving and Parking information is provided below.  However, if you want to "Be Green", you have the option of walking about 2 blocks from the hotel and catching a series of University Shuttles that will take you within a block of PFBH.  Contact me for additional information should you wish to explore this option further (my contact information is listed at the end of this section)

Your best option for parking is Lot 502 (on the campus of Warren College) as shown on the map (F5-6). BUT - you will need to purchase your own parking permit for each day of attendance.  This can be done at any parking pass machine on campus - but the easiest ones for you to find will be at the Visitor Information Centers on Gilman Drive or Northpoint Drive.  Since many of you will be coming from the Sheraton, your route to Lot 502 can be found on the map.  North on Villa La Jolla Drive, west (left) on La Jolla Village Drive, take the Gilman Drive exit and pull into the visitor's center on your right for a parking pass.  Proceed on Gilman drive (North, East and North again) and turn left on Voigt Drive.  Voigt drive winds you around to Lot 502.  If you arrive late, and cannot find parking in Lot 502, please proceed up the hill and park in the new parking structure (not shown on this map) on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Hopkins and Voigt.

If you have requests, questions or comments regarding this information, please don't hesitate to contact me at 858.822.2946 or at rmbauer@ucsd.edu.   Looking forward to seeing you next week!  Rita Bauer
