Protocol Publish-Subscribe
Description Two protocols; one to register as a producer and to publish continuously. The other to subscribe to a stream and receive messages to consume.

Prerequisites

  • Pubsub Management service running
  • Stream Definition existing
  • Stream created
  • Producing process uses StreamPublisher object to publish
  • Consuming process uses StreamConsumer object to consume

Protocol

The following diagram shows the protocol to publish a message on a stream in the upper part. It involves an intermediary, the Pubsub Management Service that coordinates the set of known producers. The lower part shows the protocol for subscribing to a stream and subsequent consumption as messages arrive. It involves an intermediary, the Pubsub Management Service that coordinates the subscriptions for the Exchange infrastructure and configures the Exchange Point accordingly.
