Introduction
This is the central page for the OOI CI Release 2 LCA Review, scheduled March 20-21, 2011 at UC San Diego, La Jolla, CA.
The LCA (Life Cycle Architecture Review) is the second milestone in the spiral development process (see CI System Engineering Methodology and CI System Life Cycle Plan). This review ends the Elaboration spiral phase for this release.
The LCA review brings together a board of representative reviewers to assess the adequate achievement of the LCA milestone, a prerequisite to moving the project into the Construction spiral phase. The scope of this review is the LCA for the first of four releases of the OOI CI.
This page and all materials will remain as a reference throughout the program.
Meeting Objectives
For all such reviews, through collaborative constructive review and critique of architectural plans and development efforts, determine whether activities associated with the previous phase are adequately complete, and that the subsystems under review are sufficiently advanced to progress to the next phase. All of the milestone reviews, along with entry criteria (deliverables for the review) and success (exit) criteria, are described in 2110-00006 System Life Cycle Plan that is available on Alfresco.
LCA Meeting Objectives
The LCA success criteria taken from the System Life Cycle Plan against which the outcome of the Elaboration phase is evaluated are:
- Are the use cases and concepts of operation stable and complete, are are the use cases, requirements and service groups correctly linked?
- Are designs for the candidate user interfaces sufficient to meet all of the use cases and workflows?
- Are the baseline architecture and its interfaces stable and its interfaces stable and sufficient to meet all of the use cases and requirements?
- Do the prototypes implement the critical use cases and demonstrate that the critical risks have been mitigated?
- Do the baseline architecture and technology choices meet the needs of the release?
- Are the construction execution plan, and integration and test plans, sufficient to give high confidence that production will succeed?

Review Outcome
Subsequent to the review, the review panel compiles a review report addressing findings, open issues and a recommendation about proceeding into the elaboration phase of CI development. This publicly relevant parts of the report, and any OOI CI team responses, are available here.
- R1 PRR Review Panel Presentation (presentation by review panel at end of review)
- R1 PRR Review Panel Report (includes notes of in-meeting Q&A, and CI response)
- R2 LCO Review Panel Presentation (presentation by review panel at end of review)
- R2 LCO Review Panel Report (includes notes of in-meeting Q&A, and CI response)
