Review Purpose, Entry Criteria, and Evaluation Criteria

The Marine Integration Readiness Review (MIRR) will evaluate the readiness of the core ION software to support integration of instrument agents, dataset agents, platform agents and data product algorithms, and to support the testing of those agents and algorithms through the ION user interface by the Marine IOs. In short, the MIRR will address this question: is Release 2 ready to support Marine Integration?

The MIRR is external to the CI IO and its board will be comprised entirely of PMO representatives_._

The entry criteria for the review are:

  • All Blocker defects must be eliminated.
  • Any Major defects that would impinge the start of Marine Integration must be eliminated, and remaining Major defects must be small in number
  • The requirements that enable the start of Marine Integration and implementation of the complete Marine Integration Procedure (MIP) must be verified.
  • Completion of the review artifacts listed in The CI System Life Cycle Plan, Section 4.2, Table 5 (DCN 2110-00006)

The evaluation criteria by which the MIRR is judged include:

  • Have all of the Blocker defects been eliminated?  Have all of the Major defects that would impinge the start of Marine Integration been eliminated?
  • Is the release mature and stable enough for deployment into a production environment?
  • Are the requirements that enable the start of Marine Integration and implementation of the complete MIP verified successfully?
  • Is there completed user documentation to inform and train the Marine IO personnel who will be testing the marine integration components as they are integrated into ION?
  • Is there completed operational documentation for the CI operations communities?
  • Are the remaining defects appropriately documented and tracked, and is the defect work-off plan sufficiently complete and robust, to support Program Management planning needs?

The MIRR Review Board provides a written report against the evaluation criteria to the CI Chief System Engineer and the PMO (COTR and SSE). The Board also provides findings, observations, concerns, and recommendations. The CI SE Management Team and PMO evaluate the report. The PMO determines the actions to be taken as a result of the review.
