h1. User Research Overview

The information we gather from our expert participants fall into three categories:

Normative: Understanding the characteristics of potential users, the work they do, the way they currently do that work and the environment in which the work is done, from which we develop initial design concept.

Formative: Fine tuning our understanding by making sure that the initial design concepts accurately reflect and support users and their work. We use this refined understanding to construct initial prototypes were early working systems.

Evaluative: Testing the newly created artifacts to do real-life tasks on which we base final product design.

The information we gather from our expert participants fall into three categories:
